Supreme Court Justice Dias Toffoli transferred the investigation known as the Master case to the STF one day after the Federal Police ruled out including people who hold special legal standing, or forum, in the probe. CNN Brasil reported the timing of the move. The case concerns allegations involving banker Daniel Vorcaro.
According to CNN Brasil, Toffoli took the inquiry to the Supreme Court even though the Federal Police had already excluded individuals with forum from the investigation. Valor Econômico also reported that the justice brought the Master inquiry to the STF against the Federal Police's position.
The reporting points to a broader dispute over where the case should be handled. VEJA reported that the STF declined to investigate indications that Vorcaro had transferred R$ 35 million to Toffoli. Estadão reported that the Federal Police suspect Toffoli may hold money from Vorcaro in a tax haven. Revista Piauí also covered the matter.
